The Weekend Past
Well the weather really didn't get any better on Saturday. Nice and sunny but really cold at times. However, that couldn't stop 8 of us from playing. Sarge's only comment as he collected his field skin $$ was that it's a lot warmer in Arizona (tell us something we don't know). Some new faces were there on Saturday and learned what bandidts some of the Jr/Sr are. But, they vowed to come back. Not much else to report. There was one close winner in the shake of the day, but the pot continues to grow. Now it is more than $180.

Where's The Sun?
The weather forecast never seems to match the weather this week. If the sun would come out we might have some decent temps.. Playing conditions have been cool to say the least. Tommy Two Sweaters showed up the other day with a big baggie on his cart. It looked like he spent more time adjusting the bungee cords than playing golf. The rest of us just toughed it out with the elements. The course continues to improve, but you still get limited roll. The posting season started on March 25 so now we have to get serious.

1st Spring Round
Four hardy souls and Tom T showed up on Saturday. We teed off with snow flurries coming down (it really wasn't that cold Tom) and played our way into sunny skies and balmy breezes. The greens continue to get better and are amazing for March 21st. Ron M must have been looking for a way to pay for the new brakes on his Audi because he insisted we have a Skins game. You guessed it, he took advantage of our good nature (only three of us since one nameless player went home for a cup of hot chocolate and a blankie) and took most of our money by using strokes on the par threes to win our meager funds. At least he didn't win the Shake of the Day as the pot still grows and is $174. Just so you don't think we were the only one's playing there were a number of other dedicated players seen on the course. Rember if you weren't supposed to play when it is cold God wouldn't have made sheep for wool so we could have sweaters. One final note - Dean finally lost his lucky ball in the creek on 15, but I think he went back to look for it after the round since we saw him go to the pro shop and borrow a cart.
The weather looks good for the coming week. Hope to see many of you, and remember your $5 (This is the cheapest entertainment around).

First Day of Spring 2009
Well it is finally here - Spring. Thank goodness, now the weather will be great or so they say.
A few of us played 9 holes yesterday - not bad considering it was only 50, but very sunny with no wind. The course continues to dry out and the greens are really quite good. Remember lunch on Friday and golf on Saturday at 11 AM.
Hope everyone read the new annual cart program. Based on my analysis if you are a JR/SR it will probably make sense to take advantage of at least the single. Also, hope you saw the March Madness event for March 27. Looks like something different with the pricing and the inclusion of beer, wine, and appetizers for $10. Hope everyone comes and supports the club.
Remember Lunch at noon, golf after weather permitting.

The Course is Open
Well guys carts were out, light lunch available and the BS thick. As expected the weather was great today and the course survived the winter well. The only negative is the number of trees that have been taken down. While most of them were not in play several will be missed unless they are replaced. Eric says the budget is tight but he is working on what can be done. The course is surprisingly dry and part of that is a tribute to Eric and his crew for the drainage work they have done over the last several seasons. The greens aren't bad for the middle of March, and will only get better as the weather gets better.
We didn't keep score and for good reason. There was a lot of rust being knocked off every one's game. Tom T did have a couple of very good holes (for a change), so maybe he'll come back with his $5. Even Dean S was on fire and played with the same ball for 18 holes. If you know Dean then you know what a feat that was. No winners in the "Shake of the Day ", so the pot continues to grow.
The weather may not be this good the rest of the week so we'll play it by ear. Thursday will be a go if no rain.

The Season Begins
Well, guys it looks like the season begins on March 17, 2009. The word is carts will out and the course is in good shape. Based on observations over the weekend people couldn't wait. There must have been 25 walkers on Saturday.
For everyone's info the Private Club Network worked for us in Arizona. We played twice at Westbrook Village GC, Peoria, AZ (Scottsdale area). It wasn't Troon but for $25 per person it was pretty good. Nice people, nice course and easy to arrange. On top of everything they had the best greens I've seen in AZ.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and make sure you Bring $5.00!

Not much to report to date this week. The weather has been frigid. The forecast says 50's tomorrow and 60 on Friday with a warm spell for the 5 days after that. Remember lunch on Friday. Watch for Ron's email.
If you have a Google account you can post comments to the Jr Sr News. Getting an account is easy. I'll expect a lot of feedback over the coming season.
Don't forget the town hall meeting at the club on Saturday. There are a lot of important issues, and the future of BCC will be the primary topic. These are certainly difficult times but everyone needs to be engaged.

GETTING CLOSE
It is March 1, 2009 and the ice is about half gone on the lake on 2. The grass is visible but late winter brown and the ducks are starting to migrate through. Rumor has it that the first round was played by Dave Hancock and Bruce V last Thursday and Dave H is already in late season form. He birdied 10 and 11 to start the season. His reputation as a true sandbagger remains intact.
This is the first of many postings of the Junior/Senior Blog.
