Summer Heat

Well it looks like Spring passed us by again and the weather went straight to Summer. Couldn't believe I needed to turn on the a/c last night. The house was way to warm for comfort.

Don't what really happened at golf the other day since my knee acted up (to say the least) and I had to withdraw from play before getting to the 1st green. Assume someone won and the money was disbursed. You guys may have to be on your own for a while. After going to the doctor yesterday and being told what I already knew, I'm having the knee scoped on Tuesday, June 1. I didn't think I could get in so quick but it really helps to know the right Docs. Now I,m hoping for a normal, but quick recovery and hope I don't lose too much of the season. But, I know that I can expect extra strokes once I return. Thanks to those of you who called to check on me Tuesday evening. My better half missed all fun since she was visiting the grandkids.

I still plan on showing up for lunch, so I'll see ya.

Washed Out!!!

Washed out again! This story is getting to be old. As we were having dinner at the club on Friday and the heavens opened up and the rain came down I knew Saturday was a day for chores and not golf. At least Brad got demo day in. I tried a couple of the new drivers and was fairly impressed. Hard to tell if I was hitting it farther but it felt that way. Several times Brad would say that was a good shot when I wasn't so sure, but I soon learned he was referring to the fact the ball bounced and didn't plug in the range. I guess it all depends on your perspective.

The better half and I played nine holes on Sunday. Besides being hot the course was a bit of a mess. Nothing that time won't correct but Eric and his crew have their work cut out. If the weather forecast holds things should be back to normal by the end of the week. With all the high temps fore casted we'll probably have to water by Saturday (at least the greens). Nothing like going straight to Summer.

Would love to know what the carp find so interesting on the shoreline on #2. They sure have been active the past few days. Caught one big pan fish the other day but no bass yet.

See ya Tuesday.

Water World

The weather, rain of the past 10 days or so remind me of Kevin Kostner's movie Water World. I was starting to think that we were going to grow gills. At a minimum we were going to need flippers, masks and snorkels to play. Maybe we'll get a break for a few days and get a chance to play.

Nice event last night at Ron's JR/SR Prime Rib Dinner. Great to see so many members attending. Someone asked me when do you become a senior player. The only answer I could come up with was when you have a change in your state of mind and think you need to play the white tees. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Have to admit it is nice to get on a 4 par in 2 shots and not have to rely on your short game all the time.

Played in the mixed shambles on Sunday and couldn't believe how cold it got throughout the day. Winners had the same old story. You putt well you win. Also it helps to have someone who can crank it off the tee.

Looks like the stock market is trying to melt down again. Or, at least that's what I heard on the radio. I think I'll go check that out and see if I still can afford to play.

Away Too Long

I'm not sure why I haven't posted for awhile. I guess it was a combination of things that took up a lot of time upon our return from Hilton Head. But, the main problem was probably the weather. When we left HHI it was 90 degrees and stayed that way all the way to Berea KY. When we left from there last Saturday it was 54 degrees, and stayed that way until about Thursday when that warm front came through. Plus all the rain didn't allow for any play until the Member Member yesterday. The course is just starting to dry out and may soon be back to normal if we don't get anymore monsoons. What happened to the nice gentle Spring rains we used to get? Now all we seem to have are floods or draughts. And, don't you just love the rough now?

Speaking of the MM. That was some winning score considering the wet conditions. I played with TG (not to be confused with TZ) and we made enough birdies to be in the money but it was the stokes we gave back that cost us. By the way where is TZ? I heard a rumor he was in Turkey on business. If so, I hope they're not playing golf with him. I don't think they would take kindly to being Ziemed. There are enough problems in the world without him creating another international incident. I also heard LBB was on top of his game and shot 83 with 17 blows. Do that too many times at some clubs you'll be tarred and feathered.

Well have to go get ready for the opening Mixed Shambles today. But first I have to reload BCC on my Upro, somehow it disappeared into one of those electronic black holes between here and HHI. Hope to see a good crowd Tuesday.

Weather Is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful

For you non Parrot Heads that's the title to one of Jimmy Buffet's great old songs. But in this case it fits. Especially the beautiful part. The weather in HH is great (so far). Should be in the low 80's with a light breeze today. At this point I'm waiting to hear from the Great White Hunter to see if we're playing golf today. If not I know we are having our own derby party later. Based on the weather report I saw this AM I'm glad I'm not at Churchill Downs today. We did play 2 days at Porters Neck Country Club, Wilmington, NC (a BCC type club which is part of the PCN). A really great value if you are traveling in that area. We only paid cart fees and were staying with good friends so it was really inexpensive. Played pretty well considering it was cool and pretty windy. We are 2 for 2 with the PCN and are glad BCC is part of the network.

Read the BCC newsletter and see we now have access to TCC and SOCC for cart fees. Can anyone spell road trip? Have to give Brad credit for setting that up.

Hope you guys are having good weather and are able to get some rounds in. Blog at you later,
