Yes the SD decided he had enough of sunny california and high gas prices and flew home on Sunday I haven't talked to him since his return , but will have lunch with him today and get filled in on his month in wine country.
We had a good crowd on Friday and a lot of lively conversation. The highlight of the day was probably the SOTD. No winners but a lot of excitment as everyone thinks they are next big winner.
The weather is looking up. Temps are expected to be in the high 50's and may reach 60 by Friday. Spring has to be close. Plus another sure sign is the PGA tour is moving to Florida. And, March Maddness is around the corner.
Golf thought - If your driver is hot, your putter will be ice cold; if you can hit your irons, you will top your woods; if you are keeping your right elbow tucked in, your head will come up. Ain't it the truth?

Road Trip
TTS, our tour guide, organized a road trip yesterday to the Carribean to play a round of golf. So Twinkle Toes and I packed our bags and headed off with TTS at the helm of his boat (Town Car) to the west side for a tee time at the simulator at Tammeron. After much discussion, and few practice shots on the range we headed off to the Dominican Republic to play The Teeth of The Dog. We called it quits after nine holes and headed for lunch at Rudy's Hot Dog. Why only nine holes you ask? Well we were tired after all that travel and some grueling play. Twinkle Toes was the medalist (his recent play at BCC was was evident). TTS and I weren't quite in mid-season form, but we had a good time and vowed to take another trip before long. Twinkle Toes was amazed at how real it was and swears he can hit it more than 165 yards off the tee. I give TTS credit for consistency. His wedge play play is just as bad virtually as it is on the course. As for me I still know how to putt.
It's almost time to head for lunch so I'll sign off now.

Another Week Gone By
Time seems to be flying by as we approach Spring. It seems like just yesterday we were having lunch and trying to solve the problems of the world. Actually it was a few days ago and I'm just getting around making a new post on the blog.
Friday afternoon the Nurse and I headed for G-town to see Miss Emma and the Rabbit Wrangler, and catch one more youth b-ball game on Saturday before heading back for a social event on Saturday night (more on that later). It was a last minute decision to go since the kids had been sick during the week. After we got the all clear from the parents we headed South. Everything went well except for the b-ball game. The RW's team has had a miserable season and only won one game. True to form they lost Saturday by one point but it went to final seconds. After lunch we drove back for our social event. Later that night we received a phone from our son saying his wife was sick. Now we are holding our breath and hope we weren't infected. Some of you should hold yours too.
I have to say that I thought OTR was a good pool player on his own table. I've now changed my opinion. He's just plan good. I think it must be the result of a mis-spent youth. While he didn't repeat as the champion and had to relinquish his hold on the traveling trophy it wasn't for the lack off effort. Mrs GWH and El Presidente' took the honors this time. Mrs GWH made a couple of impossible shots to defeat OTR. But, don't be fooled the man is good.
I remembered to bring the dice on Friday and there was a lot of pent up demand. But, no winners; just another #$10.00 added to the pot. So you don't want to miss this week since we are overdue to have a winner.

I Forgot Again
I didn't think this was a big deal but the rest of the lunch crowd did. You should have heard the howls when I told everyone I forgot the dice cup last Friday. Now mind you this was the second week in a row, but you would have thought I had committed a major crime. These guys must be desperate for entertainment. In reality none of them really have much of chance to win except for maybe Dr. J. Twinkle Toes and TGWH are only dreaming since they have never come close in almost two years of rolling the bones. I promise to write a note to myself and bring the dice Friday. It hurt me to the quick when someone suggested I'd invested the money at the MGM Casino on my last trip with my Dad (the thought did cross my mind).
This is pretty amazing to think the weather is still holding. I know we had a little snow and cold weather over the weekend, but I don't see any long term trend predicted. I don't think I've ever seen the lake on #2 with open water at this time of the year before. Normally we have ice fishermen, but none this year. Just a lot of geese making a mess.
How about Lefty's last round at the AT&T Pro Am? It was fun to watch and continues a trend this year. If you are 5 shots back after three rounds you have a good chance of winning. What's with Tiger? I don't think I've ever seen him putt like that. He used to make everything in sight.

PS I heard Fred S demoed the new RBZ Driver from Taylormade. Word was it was really long and probably soon to be in his bag. I think Gilhooley is quietly waiting for the castoff from last year. Talylormade demo day is scheduled for May at the club this year.

Your Last Round!
The other day I was flipping through one of the obscure golf publications I receive and ran across an article that raised the question where I would be playing my last round in 2012. Now I don't know about you, but right now I'm more concerned about playing my first round! Now to be fair the article's author was asking the question in relation to the prediction by the Mayan's that the world will end at the end of 2012. After dismissing thoughts about the end of the world and the Mayans I reflected back on the end of last season. The only thing I could recall was that it ended like many previous seasons. It seems like the past couple of years I've double bogeyed 18 sometime in the middle of November (it used to be a par). I would like to think this year will be different. But , if you buy into the Mayan's theory and plan on playing Dec. 20 get an early tee time.
The talk at lunch on Friday centered around whether it was nice enough to play. I think Twinkle Toes and LTG left lunch and headed to the course. I also saw OTR over the weekend and he said he got in 14 holes on Sunday. Every time I think about walking a few holes I seem to be in the middle of some project and can't break away, and then when I can it is dark or too cold. The only consolation is that I've finished a lot of projects around the house that I put off during golf season.
I forgot to bring the dice for the SOTD. I tried to get the group to prepay, but couldn't get any takers. They just told me I'd have to use my own money for gas.
Golf thought - A two -foot putt counts the same as a two -foot drive.
