Holiday Golf

Well, Memorial Day weekend is here. And, for a change the weather was perfect ( at least for Saturday). I don't think the day could have been any nicer. How about the course? Hats off to Eric and his crew. Yeah, I know we still complain about the rough and some bunkers leave something to be desired, but we still have one of the best tracks around. Besides Pat Lindsey told me once if you keep in the fairway the rough and the bunkers aren't a problem (easy for him to say).

Had another "big match" with friends and I'll just say their wallets are much lighter when they left than when they showed up. I've heard a lot of excuses in my 40 odd years of playing golf, but here's a new one. After hitting a snap quacker on the 1st tee Dean S was heard to say that the train whistle distracted him. There may have been a train but it has to be over a mile away and any whistle is faint at best. Of course his partner, Ronnie 2 Strokes tried to back him up. The really best part was Dean S somehow managed to make a 4 for 2 (it was 2 inches from being a 3 for 1). There is no way you have any basis to complain if you "Ziem" your opponents.
I'll bet the rest of the skins field is still trying to figure this one out. This was their only moment of glory other than the mercy hole we gave them on 18 so they'd come back next week.

After weeks of deliberation; further testimony from Dean S and other parties the JR/SR Executive Committee voted to add a new term. Henceforth when anyone claims to be distracted by any noise it will be known as being "roostered". This action was not taken lightly because of the number of members who are known to have rabbit ears (i e Ed S) and the anticipated claims of interference that will follow. But, since most of us are becoming hard of hearing I expect most complaints will fall on deaf ears.

A final note. It was nice to see a full parking lot and a full tee sheet. The pool sounded busy and lots of families around. Let's hope it stays that way.
