BCC proved once again that it was up to the challenge of the US Open Qualifier. The largest field ever (76) teed it up in hopes of advancing to sectional qualifying for the US Open. From the field five, plus two alternates moved on. No one broke par yesterday, and only one player shot 72. The next closest score was 74 (5 players). The average score for the field was 82.5. The big winner was probably the course and the wind. Eric and his crew did a great job in preparation. The course was in great shape. Pin locations were very fair and the rough had been cut to a reasonable height. But the wind was a constant 20 mph. It played havoc with a lot of shots.
We had another big crowd - 15 players. The LR Dr was in charge and tried to stack the teams to no avail. Twinkle Toes, Gilholey, LTG and the SD blew the field away. Some actually suggested a drug test since they were soooo good. Personally I think it was the easy pin placements, and blind luck. Oh well there's another day coming. I seriously doubt they could play that well two days in a row. Besides they won't be paired up again for many days.
Looks like great weather for the next few days. Good for golf.
