Into To The Valley Of Golf Played The Nineteen

Into the JR/SR history book another chapter has been recorded. It was truly a day for great things to happen and some of the guys didn't disappoint. It all started innocently enough with Twinkle Toes and I on the range discussing the literary merits of a recent Brad Thor novel we had read when Roy MacAvoy (from Tin Cup) aka the LR Dr. showed up firing hosel rockets at us. With a sheepisp look on his face he was heard to mutter " I didn't think you'd notice".

The assembling for the group photo was interesting. The Commish would have had trouble trying to heard these cats. Getting nineteen JR/SRS to follow instructions is almost impossible. What was even more interesting was to see who couldn't get up from kneeling for thirty seconds while the picture was taken. Considering the number of knee replacements in the group it was amazing anyone could knee at all.

After the picture the first group teed off and the fun really started. Most everyone had at least one blowup hole. Some even had blowup rounds. The most memorable was John B (aka The Chairman). Seems he managed to shot 17 on hole No. 18. When interviewed after the round on how that happened he said with a straight face, " I one putted." His playing companions confirmed the one putt and also the fact he feed the fishes with 5 balls. I guess it got so confusing they had to put pencil to paper to try to reconstruct the carnage. But, the positive side is we have a new term - A Bachey, any hole where you score more than double par.

After a lengthy wait for the last group the pro shop was able to complete the scoring so we could have the awards ceremony. By the way, thanks to Brad and his crew for doing a great job. The winners were John L (low gross) and JJ (low net). It was then on to the photos. We dusted off the trophy (literally), took a picture and got back to Golf Talk Live, telling tall golf tales and generally having a good time. There were several near misses with the SOTD but no winners like last year. For those interested the full tournament summary will posted on the bulletin board.

Finally the Executive Comm. met and started the planning for the Third Annual JR/SR Championship to be held about the same date in August of 2011. Mark your calendars because this thing is only getting better with time.
