He Took Our Money

This is a three part story.

It first starts with Gilhooley.  I  think he has been setting this up all season.  He had planned a trip to New York and knew he needed gas money.  I am sure he figured we would let our guard down in October since we get kinda laid back about JRSR golf.  The first phase of his plan involved winning the majority of the field skins on Tuesday ($18).  Knowing that would only get him to the border he convinced me to play FBT, winner take all on Wednesday.  He then proceeded to play well below his handicap and walk away with another $35.  Of course then he announced he was leaving "Dodge" and we 'd see him after the weather turned cold when we couldn't play golf.  The only bright side his handicap came down to where it should have been in the first place.

The second and third part of the story involves the SOTD.  After Gilhooley won the FBT the Appraiser says he rolled 4's (two rolls) to win $146.  I questioned the validity of this claim since the requisite number of witnesses weren't present.  But our barmaid swore it was a good roll (remember she is in good standing with the Ohio Bar), and I reluctantly paid off that night at the Prime Rib Dinner.  You should have seen the look on Mrs. Appraisers face when I handed him an envelope with 146 singles.

The third part is when the next day JJ proceeds to roll five twos in 2 rolls for another win. Since I was sitting there when it happened I couldn't really question it.  He won $76.  All is not lost we still have $82 in the pot looking for a new home.  These things seem to come in three's so another winner could be close at hand.

Saturday golf was a wash out.  But, Sunday was a sunny day for the couples par 3 event.  There were 32 players who met for brunch and golf.  The course played tougher than people thought it would.  The Team of Dr. AH and I with our wives won in a closely contested tournament.  That's the first time I've won anything in a long time.  The permanent markers are in on the backside.  We hope to have the front done shortly.  If you want to practice your short game or just something different give it a try.  The Pro Shop has a scorecard prepared for your use.

The weather is turning cooler this week.  We'll play when we can.

PS - For those of you who aren't aware we have put in tee markers to make every hole play as a par three.  No hole will be longer than 150 yards and none shorter than 55 yards.  But all the holes require skill and will challenge you game.
