Moaning And Groaning

That's what you heard around the training table yesterday after the first round of the championships.  You would have thought someone had died based on all the long faces.  If it was going to be easy then everyone would get their name on the trophy.  I'll admit the pin placements were challenging, but they weren't anything we haven't seen before.  There were a few good rounds recorded.  One of them was by our own.  Silk posted a very respectful 85 (which included a triple).  He really struck the ball well, and putted with a lot of confidence.  Personally I had the worst nine holes 've had in 20 years.  When it takes four shots to get out of a bunker you know the day isn't going well.  I pulled it together on the back nine and improved my score by nine shots, and wasn't totally embarrassed.

I forgot another first from Thursday.  When we left the tee on #1 we saw a pair of mangled Ray Bans laying in the rough.  Sure enough they were JJ's.  Some how they fell out of the cart and OTR managed to run over them.  Let me say they were beyond repair.  It seems this is not the first time this has happened to JJ.  Ray Ban has him on their watch list and won't honor any more warranty requests.  Yesterday I noticed he had a new pair of cool looking shades.  Upon close inspection I saw they were labeled Ironman.  That's pretty appropriately named I thought.

Practice hard, the 15th will soon be hear.  The early money is on Silk.
